The Story of
METAL

Metal is a fundamental element which is non-renewable. Most metals can be recycled, such as iron, aluminum, copper, gold, and silver. The most common metals in daily life are iron and aluminum, which can be differentiated using magnetism: if it is magnetic, it is iron; if not, it is aluminum.

EXAMPLES

Iron

commonly found in canned food packaging

Characteristics:

harder and will not oxidized easily

Aluminum

commonly used in aluminum cans and aluminum foil

Characteristics:

softer, not prone to corrosion, and has strong plasticity

BEFORE RECYCLING

2

Remove any non-metallic attachments

Clean the metal items to remove dirt or other contaminants

Please note that compressed gas canisters must be opened for recycling; otherwise, they will be considered hazardous materials and cannot be recycled.

Users of The Loops can also place them directly in our recycling basket, and we will handle them properly.

AFTER RECYCLING

The recycling of iron and aluminum involves different processes, such as crushing, smelting, purification, and casting.

The material is then cooled and shaped into ingots, which can be reprocessed into other metal products.

After high-temperature smelting, refining agents are added to remove aluminum dross and impurities from the molten aluminum or iron.
